About The Web Support Guy

Welcome to The Web Support Guy. If you’re not getting what you expect or need from your website and you want to know why, you’ve come to the right guy. With almost 20 years of professional full-time web management and marketing experience, I’ve got the skills and experience to make your website work the way it should.

Over the past 20 years or so, we’ve built and launched literally thousands of successful websites, from small community organisations to business and e-commerce sites, blogs, wikis and forums, to corporate and government portals with 5000 or more pages. Although I still build websites for some clients, my focus now is on the hundreds of thousands of websites that … well … simply don’t work!

I know business. I’ve run businesses of my own for most of my life, helped others to launch successful businesses both online and in the real world, held senior corporate and government management positions and worked as a consultant and manager with small and medium businesses in the retail, wholesale, construction, real estate, agribusiness, IT and telecommunications industries, to mention a few.

I know about customers. I’ve spent my entire career developing an in-depth understanding of what customers really want, especially online. I know how they use the internet, what they like and what they hate, how they find websites, how they use them, and why they don’t.

I know about web. I live my life on websites, search engines, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, on professional forums and discussion groups and on my smartphone. I’ve personally built e-commerce stores, online communities, interactive support sites, 24/7 customer help sites, interactive video training sites, subscription systems, email newsletters and more.

You know your business better than I do! That’s why you’re in the business you’re in. It’s also why I’m in the business I’m in, because I know how to make your websites work better for your business or organisation.

You know your customers better than I do! But I know how to attract them into your website, how to track and measure where they come from, what they look at, when and where they enter and leave, how long they stay, what they read, what content they like and don’t like, why they abandon your shopping cart, even where they went after they left your website.

Because I work primarily online, it doesn’t matter where your business is located or what time zone you’re in. I can work with you to make the most of your website and build your online business channel to its maximum potential.

If you still need convincing, I’ve created some additional content here that will help you understand some of the services I provide to my clients and why you should also be using Web Support Guy services like:

  • Website Tuning – figuring out what’s working and what’s not in your current website, making recommendations for improvement, and assisting you to implement those recommendations.
  • Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) – we’re not talking ‘black hat voodoo’ here, just making sure your website is finely tuned to get the best placement in search results for the phrases you’re customers are using when they search the web.
  • Google Places – getting your website to come up in the magic “six pack” of top search listings when people search in their own neighbourhood (pure gold).
  • Web Analytics Reporting – setting up simple, cost-effective, routine reports that tell you what your customers are doing on your website, where they’re coming from, how they’re finding you and what they’re doing while they’re on your website.
  • Web Search Analysis – developing an in-depth understanding of what vocabulary your customers use when they look for your products and services, how you rank in the search engines for these phrases, who you’re competing with for visitors, and what traffic you’re missing out on.
  • Quantitative Research – setting up online surveys to ask your customers what they really think about your website, what they like and don’t like, what they’d like to see improved and how they want to use your website.
  • Qualitative Research – setting up systems to encourage your visitors to tell you what they think, every day, so you and I can measure customer satisfaction in real time and make improvements to the website that really make a difference.
  • Keyword Marketing – designing and managing cost-effective advertising campaigns to drive more targeted traffic into your website to improve your business using products like Google Adwords.
  • Content Authoring – writing and editing high value content to keep your customers engaged and designing content ‘funnels’ that convert more of your website visitors into repeat customers.
  • Content Management – converting your website to something you can manage yourself, with basic word processing skills, using simple, friendly, open source web content management products.

I also offer customised consulting services that specifically address your business needs and concerns. If you don’t see something in the list above that meets your immediate need, let me know. Even if I can’t do it myself, with almost 20 years of online experience I have developed a strong network of specialists in most online business disciplines. I may be able to refer you to someone who can help.

Why not start with a basic website analysis.  It’s a special offer for new clients that includes a basic analysis of your current website, the competitive environment it operates in, where it currently ranks on search engines, what problems I can see in using the website and includes some practical recommendations for immediate improvement. If I can’t find anything to improve, I’ll refund your fee!

Payment for my services is simple and convenient. I use PayPal online payment services, but you don’t need a PayPal account to use my service. You can use any major credit card via the PayPal system.
